People all over the world are looking for more effective, less expensive and innovative ways to get work done. The field of education is no exception. In its simplest terms, a best practice is a technique or methodology that through experience and research has proven to reliably lead to a desired result. More specifically, research into best practice in the field of TESOL is a systematic, organized attempt to learn from the experiences of others. These shared experiences can shed light on what works and what doesn't work in our field. It is for this reason that the co-editors of this volume, Dr Christine Coombe (Co-chair of the TESOL Arabia Testing, Assessment and Evaluation SIG) and Dr Rubina Khan (chair of the BELTA Testing SIG) decided to work together on this joint project examining what our members consider best practice in the field of TESOL/ELT.
