Ziegler W.T. The vapor pressures of some hydrocarbons in the liquid and solid state at low temperatures

Contents were formerly NBS Report 6038, issued Feb. 13, 1959. This paper presents a brief review of the literature pertaining
to the vapor pressure of eleven hydrocarbons at low temperatures. These hydrocarbons are methane, ethane, propane, n-butane, isobutane
(2-methyl propane), n-pentane, ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, acetylene and cyclopropane. All of these except cyclopropane are
encountered in the purification of hydrogen from refinery sources. Vapor pressure data are given for most of these hydrocarbons over
the pressure range 0. 001 to 1500 mm Hg. These data have been used to estimate the triple-point pressures of the hydrocarbons where
these pressures were not found in the literature. Some data for the vapor pressures of solid methane, ethane, n-butane, ethylene,
acetylene and cyclopropane are included.
